Re: favorite song?
Tue, January 27, 2004 - 4:48 PMI've always preferred those songs which were more strongly influenced by Lee's writing and playing, or those he directly and singly wrote and sang for...but I can't choose a favorite among them, because that would hurt my sonic youth heart. -

Re: favorite song?
Wed, January 28, 2004 - 7:47 PMOne of my favorite songs for strange sentimental reasons (from the first album I got) is "Quest For The Cup" from "Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star." That one spoken part, the "all your dreams will come true" bit, still resounds in my head even years after.
I have to say that a lot of my other favorite songs have been Kim songs: "Kissability," "Sympathy For The Strawberry," "Beauty Lies In The Eye" etc.

Re: favorite song?
Wed, January 28, 2004 - 9:40 PMHello... Just joined this group, thought I'd say hi.
A fav. Sonic Youth song? That's a tough one. Depends on the mood I guess. Sometimes it's JC from Dirty. Sometimes it's Brave Man Run from Bad Moon Rising. Sometimes, every once in a while, it's the 3rd track off of SYR3. I dig pretty much every 'period' of Sonic youth, save for 1000 Leaves and Ghost and Flowers....
At any rate, hello
and goodnight

favourite song?
Wed, August 11, 2004 - 3:07 PMit's gotta be 'Teen-age Riot' even though Kim doesn't sing it, and it's not on Sister.
'Kool Thing' is even more of a 'song' but less Sonic Youth, and in the top 2 or 3 for sure. -

Re: favorite song?
Mon, September 27, 2004 - 1:57 AMWhen I saw the "favorite song" post, I figured nobody on this tribe would share my favorite song, but I was wrong.
Apparently, someone else likes "Quest For The Cup" too.
I'd have to say that probably eight of my top ten favorite SY songs come from the Experimental Jet Set album. I like the short songs and weird concepts, and it rocks out hard. I like music from all of their periods, but I must admit that Daydream Nation doesn't touch me like it touches many SY fans. Daydream and Sister are my least favorite SY albums.
The other favorite songs are:
"Waist," "Tokyo Eye," "Winners' Blues," "Androgynous Mind," "Bone," "Starfield Road," "I Dreamed I Dream," "Mote," "The Ineffable Me"

Sun, July 10, 2005 - 9:10 AMI remember looking through my roomates records in college '86...
I came across "EVOL"
and the rest is history!
"Starpower" was the 1st SY song I ever heard... I was so amazed I'm going to put that down as my all time fav
All of "EVOL" "Sister" & "Daydream Nation" absolutely top notch!

Re: favorite song?
Sun, July 10, 2005 - 9:15 AMWhy doesn't anyone else like "Titanium Expose" from Goo? It rocks out, and then it chills out, and then it rocks out some more and makes me very happy. -
